Hi there,I tried many things to improve PC audio playback quality:
playing from usb hdd
Defragmenting hdd
playing whole cd from ram
what I am currently content with is:
I used separate power suplies for hdd and DVD-ROM.
Actually it is power adapter that came with usb to IDE converter.
And I insert the CD into DVD rom and it sounds better than anything I have tried before.I use ASIO drivers
I use Terratec space and byerdynamics dt880
and esi juli@ and a stereo
I use j river media center.
Follow Ups:
That way I minimize (if not remove) hdd and cd-rom influences on PC power supply
now I can't hear the difference between jittery and low jitter CDs. I have one in my collection I can listen only to CDR copy of it or ripped to HDD
Now I can listen to it without ripping.
BTW it probably would allow for better quality of audio CDR burned on CD-RW with separate power supply for both CD-RW and HDD.
