"Burning" refers to writing a CD. I hope you didn't burn (write) 700 CDs. That would be counter productive.Anyway, "Ripping" is what you mean when you refer to extracting audio from CDs to your hard drive.

Yes, I meant ripped. I thought the terms are interchangeable but maybe not.

Sorry hermanesque - not trying to be a PITA here, but the original poster said ***I burned about 700 cds*** and that was the point I was clarifying. And the terminology was incorrectly stated.A CD-Recorder ("Burner") writes data to a disc by selectively HEATING parts of an organic dye layer in the disc with a LASER in its write head. This is where the nickname "burn" came from.
Hard disks record data by magnetizing a magnetic material in a pattern that represents the data. There is no "burning" here and that would be incorrect terminology to state so.
