Any suggestions for an external CD/DVD drive for ripping using Apple Macbook? I am a little worried that the small drive in my Macbook won't survive ripping 700+ CDs to a HD.A few external options I am considering:
- External LaCie CD/DVD drive (D2 or Porsche?)
- Plextor PX-760A in an External Enclosure (Welland from memxit.com)First of all there many good comment on Plextor drives, but did anyone get it to work on an Apple machine. Second It would be good to use Plextools, but I guess for that I might need Windows XP running on Bootcamp.
Any help is appreciated as always!
Thanks,
Rene

Does anyone have experience with this drive: Plextor PX-755UF ?It is an external premium Plextor drive with USB 2.0 and Firewire. According to the website it does support Windows and Mac OS X.

I am using a Plextor Premium 2 in an external Firewire/UsB/USB2 enclosure with an external power supply on a Mana table with my Macs. Works very well. The external reader is plugged into an Audience Adept Response mains conditioner. I feel my grabbed cds are significantly more transparent and dynamic then those grabbed in the internal drive. Using an Acoustic Revive RD-3 demagnetiser as well.
Thanks very much for your response and for elaborating on your experiences with a Plextor drive on a Mac.Which external enclosure are you using?
Thanks.

Mapower MAP-Y51C1G-A4F. It is the one with external power supply. There is a H51 version of it, which has internal PS, but I do not like switching power supplies in the chassis too close too the mechanism.
