Anyone use a Network HD and serve their music collection to a Squeezebox or other wireless USB device?
Follow Ups:
and like it for what I intended it for:* Backup drive for the laptops - mine and the wife's
* Staging for iTunes content
* Pulling pictures off the camera for use by the other computer
* Staging for when I make onsite recordings and need to backup the data (usually about 5GB or so per session)I'm using an Iomega network drive using the Linksys router and the computers are all G wireless devices. Works well.
Hope that helps....
Cheers,
I am going to tag along with this one.I have a second and third comp. on my network and for the life of me i cannot get the network to see any of the usb drives (on toher computers) at all. They won't share. The sharing protocols don't even show up for them..like they dont exsist at all.
Are they running the FAT32 filesystem? I think XP doesn't like sharing FAT32 filesystems, but I'm not sure.

FYI.....you may want to give it a try, it worked great for me, I have 3 computers and a external hd sharing, files, folders and anything else I want them to share....its REALLY easy and it works....I have XP Pro on 2 machines and XP Home on another....no problem.
NTSF.Not Fat32,
Checked that out first..I use the monoprice USB boxes to house the drives. On Comput 1, i have 2 internal 4 external.
Comput 2 uses one internal, 5 external.
Comput 3 uses one internal, 3 external.All are NTFS.
All internal drives show up no problem using the "sharing" protocol. No sharing protocol shows up or can be implemented on any of the external drives from the computers they are connected to.
I have been simply disconnecting them and moving them around as needed to different computers (which i don't mind the exersise but... :)
