I just bought a new external dvd burner mainly for copying DVDs but id like to also use it for ripping music with EAC. I will rip the cds to wav and then use FLAC to compress.
I used the setup wizard to get the basics setup. But I need a little help making sure everything is correct. My drive is a Samsung SH-S182d in an external firewire case. I have the latest firmware installed. I had EAC detect the drive settings and its set at Secure mode with only the c2 error box checked. I used Accurate rip and a few disks to get the correct offset which is +6. Gap detection is set to Method B and Accurate. Does this seem about right??? The Drive options I understand. But the many EAC options are where I start to get a bit confused. Can anyone help walk me through this?? I know there was a website that explained it all and I used it to set up my old drive but I forgot to bookmark the page and cant seem to find it. Please help.
thanks
Frank

Also, I prefer winamp - sounds better to me.When I first tried it I used "classic" option - didn't like the interface - Not a good choice.
Much better with the newer interface - don't remember the name
also, you probably want to use Accurate Rip integrate it into EAC

Use Flac and it will integrate also, if you're not already doing it
I used this
Believe what your ears say - not hearsay.
Also wanted to ask if there are any good alternatives to Foobar2000 that sounds good and supports ASIO?? Foobar2000 just seems very awkward to use even though ive been using it for a while now, id rather have something more user freindly.
thanks

http://www.jrmediacenter.com/One thing, though, is that there is not much inherently valuable about ASIO which is exclusive to it. Since the goal is normally to bypass kmixer, WDM Kernel Streaming is another option, which, in fact some of the ASIO drivers really simply wrap around. There is also a DirectShow filter which can be used to bypass kmixer, which allows clean output using DirectShow players such as WMP.
Im not so sure what you mean about Asio not bein valuable? In foobar i prefered the sound of ASIO output over all the others including KS. But im open to all new ideas. Thanks
I treid Jriver 11 and didnt really like it it seems a bit to bloated for me, and no matter what i tried I couldnt get it to play back dts rips. From what ive read many people have the same problem. With foobar I never had a problem. Ive also started looking into getting Foobar setup to be more user freindly and have found alot of good info at Hydrogen audio forums. Thanks for the help guys:) Happy new year
