BTW it doesnt take very much time or energy to put together a decent PC for audio. There isnt really anything special about PCs built for audio use unless they will be used in the same room as the audio/video system and need to be silent. In your case where silent isnt a priority its very easy to build a basic system for audio use. It will most likely cost a bit more then a $400 Dell but you can pick and choose exactly what parts you want to use and youll end up with a better all around system. Happy holidays

Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions. Actually, I went out and took
a look at the Mac Pro and became convinced that I would be sorry if I did not buy an Apple Mac Pro. So, I'm on a whole new playing field.
Life is strange.
Thanks,

realize that if you get a Mac, you'll be more-or-less
locked in an even more obscure dimension than the Phantom
Zone you'd be stuck in if you could only consider buying
a Dell? There's vastly more software, hardware, experience,
and advice floating around for PCs than there is for
Macs. It may not be fair, or rational, or just, or
right-thinking, or Godly, or Karmaic, but that's just
the way it is.
Seems that the mac pro would be the best of all possible worlds. It has the stability of the mac and the mac's ability to run all things music and video whilst also running windows with all of my current programs transferred and used as need.
