I had originally intended to get one of the options the Dawnrazor showed in his thread, but instead I picked a cheapie CompUsa IR kit that includes a USB receiver. It was about $35. Link belowUnfortunately, I haven't yet started the foobar integration. I spent a bunch of time yesterday getting foobar more or less set up with a decent UI. I'm hoping to start looking at remote integration today/tonight, but we'll see.

Cool find.It should work out great for you, and quite a few buttons.
Is the Ir reciever the one pictured?
If so, would that work if the usp ports are on the back of a computer that is facing you from across the room?
There is an extender cable in the package, and I'm assuming you can run it off a USB hub if necessary. There are a good set of buttons, but the top 3 are program selectors and probably aren't available as input keys. The (hopefully) cool think is that it is also a mouse, so some navigation tasks may not need to be handled explicitly. Of course, this assumes that navigation with the 'mouse' function actually works - I can easily see it being too spastic for fine control.
I think we may need a topic somewhere along the lines of "how to set up Foobar to be useable via remote". I'm expecting that you will have to have a pretty defined set of activities that are remote-enabled, since foobar is so flexible that there is no way you can get everything.
I like the one you found, because it does have more buttons, and they seem to be more like a CDP in their labeling.BUt you are right that Foobar is very very flexible, and you can get it to do almost anything.
I already have a wireless touch screen, so the remote is not necessary, but it will be a nice addition.
Just because it's so pointlessly cool
