Have you checked out Lynx?
Follow Ups:
Yeah.I've been looking at their site.
All I want the card for at this time is to use my PC as server for ripped CD's.
Going into a digital crossover with AED/EBU digital input.
Trying to figure out why they offer so many input channels.
I guess that some people are using the extra output channels as a digital crossover -
Yeah, they are studio cards, and some people do use the extra digital outs with crossovers, whether they are external, or software driven.Don't worry about buying more than you need right now.
I had no plans to use the digital outs on my Lynx card, instead I planned to run its 3 pairs of analog outs for a triamped system. If Lynx would have offered me a savings to nix the digital ins and outs, I would have jumped at it.
But system needs change, and who knows what you'll be doing 2 years from now. In my case, I USE that digital out to go to my old DAC for head phone listening. Do to a living situation that I never would have anticipated 3 years ago when I bought the Lynx, I listen mostly to headphones these days, and am glad I have that extra flexibility.
They are for studio use. Most of us have no need for them; and ADAT too!
