Thanks for the interesting link. Are you sure this happens outside of a specific program?
I mean, is it always running, and gets overlayed on top of any sound that the system makes?
Follow Ups:
One of the options is to create a standalone PC that runs of a USB memory stick. You would insert this in between the output from your source and the DAC.There are also solutions for most players. You can build aompletely free solutuion as well. This site is providing a sophisticated way to create the inverse filters but there are also free options for that.
Even this solution is a coupel of grand less than a Tact. The old Tacts are not particulalry good either and they all use asynchronous resampling.
Cheers
THanks Thomas.Unfortunately, not everyone goes out to a DAC. I am one of the few that uses a high end soundcard.
It is not a huge deal, as I usually listen to cds...but it would be nice to add a tuner or internet streams if I want.
There has to be a program that works outside of other programs like foobar.
Internet streams seem to work okay with JRiver Media Center which you can use via the convolver plugin. JRM also has support for TV tuners.Outside of an application you are basically looking something that looks like a sound card to the system. This is an interesting idea and it should not be to hard to write a wrapper that exposes a ound card interface, performs the correction, and sen the bits on to a real sound card of choice. Is that what you are looking for?
Cheers
YES this sound like what I am looking for...particularly if it handles crossovers and room correction.
I am unaware but it sounds like a good idea. The best right now is a direct show filter or a VST plugin.
Cheers
Thomas
