I have just come across another example of couldn't care less attitude by omputer audio manufacturers.Tried to interface my Lynx AES 16 with my dCS 972, with standard Neutrik AES digital input sockets. The plug was way too big to go in. I rekon one will have to take .5mm off the INNER EDGE of the plug - impossible.
Had to spend 2 hours changing the Lynx plugs as they are bunged up with a rubber insert, and the pin carrier could not be removed.
Anyone who makes a cable loom with 9 outputs, 8 of them AES plugs that don't fit just doesn't care about the user. The AES 16 is expensive enough for them to use a connector box, or at least Neutrik connectors.
Follow Ups:
The AES16 connectors are a bit tighter than standard, but I have not found them unusable. Have you talked to support about it? They are very responsive, and I am sure they would want to hear about it.
Lynx has admitted a product fault. Will replace
I told Lynx about it; they have not even replied! If your car wheel won't fit, there will be BIG headlines. If your IT stuff won't work, they don't even bother to admit it.
Fmak,Maybe it is an AES-16 thing, but on the 2b, I used the digital out with a cable I made using neutrik XLRs and had no issues with the stock lynx connectors.
Those Aes/Ebu jacks on Lynx breakout cables ARE standard-sized and fit perfectly fine into several gear I have around. Are you sure that your DCS is using standard sizes?I have replaced all the Lynx breakout cables with my own DIY efforts, not b/c they don't fit but for sonic reasons.
Mine would not fit the standard Neutrik sockets that everthing else fits.
