I'm trying to make a decision on a USB DAC and am wondering if anyone has heard both the Cosecant and the Bel Canto Dac3 and can offer a comparison. Are these DACs both in the same league?
Follow Ups:
go to the bel canto , i had a wavelenggth dac before , the brick not the cosecant , and i sild it
to get the DAC3 , what a change .. the brick was too muddy, and slow...
The Cosecant is not slow sounding like the Brick. The Cosecant has much better definition. I also think it differs from the Bel Canto in that is takes the USB signal direct to I2s. I think the Bel Canto uses an S/PDIF interface. I have not heard the Bel Canto, so please correct me if I am wrong about the interface.
hi , steve you are right, the bel canto use usb/spdif converter with 3 jitter correction's stages . (like in the benchmark) then upsampling to 24/192 , the brick and cosecant is a non os dac . not the same approach, not the same sounding..
I just placed an order for the Cosecant. I have been using Wavelength's Cosine dac for the past 4 or 5 years and love it. The Cosecant is similar to the Cosine except that it accepts USB inputs (obviously). Before purchasing the Cosine I did consider Bel Canto's Dac 1.
