There are a lot of programs for digital recording. My experience is very limited but I also saw Garageband as being very limited too. A good way to get a taste of what its all about but too limited for serious use.As most things that are easy to use, the ease of use requires it to be limited. As programs become more powerful they get more complex and harder to master. This is the way of the world.
Take a look at CuBase and all of its versions from a light version that comes with some entry level analog-digital converters to a full blown pro version. There are other choices in the same vein.
I'm not sure what feature in particular you're looking for. Checkout Sony's Sound Forge Audio Studio . Another idea may be to look at M-Audio's Podcast Factory .
is the ease of composing. for example I saw the demo create a track and then choose the instrument. A keyboard like screen will then appear. You can change the music note, duration easily. Then you can flip the display and become a music sheet. That is really cool. Any PC software that can do that ???
The guy told me that these days, most professional and amature are using iMac to do this because of this software. And surely he is trying to convince me to buy a MAC. Is that true ???
Thanks.
All Sequencing software will do Note and Staff view with editing.
I have been doing it on Windows machines almost 20 years now.
Cakewalk/SONAR is fairly easy to use.
I am sure there are even more basic programs that are easier to use.All Mac and Windows based Sequencers will do this type of MIDI editing.
BTW - Most professionals are not using an iMac - and they are not using Garage Band.
