Anyone have some suggestions for an inexpensive (less than $400) USB DAC (plug & play) that I can hook up to single-ended inputs of my office stereo?
Fubar? Chinese (Pacific sound etc.)? I'm lookiing for credible CD-quality sound of 128-bit-rate internet radio through i-tunes. Is this possible?

May I suggest USB-SPDIF Interface + DAC combo?
The Ripper is a USB DAC for under $400. But it's main purpose is for recording LPs.jh
OK, that is extremely cool. talk about flexibility! phono stage, usb dac, and adc all in one! excellent!

With 128kbs internet radio it's possible to get decent radio of mp3 sound quality. A few radio stations are streaming at 192kbs and they are better but certainly not cd quality sound. For DACs $250 will get you a Scott Nixon Chibi USB DAC. There are other DACs to consider for $400 like his USB Tube DAC. All will give CD quality with ripped WAV or lossless files.
I did a search but couldn't find the answer to this so please bear with me.. What I'm trying to find out is how to use the ASIO driver through Foobar and output to a USB DAC such as the Chibi. BTW, Chibi in the hokkien language is the word used for the female genitals, lol.
I made a new setup page to help walk you through this, step by step. It related to "The Ripper", but the process is similar for many of the USB DACs on the market. Ignore the parts dealing with recording.jh
Excellent, thanks

I pronounce it 'Chee Bee' not 'Chee Bye' which in hokkien is kinda nasty. Think tiny, drawf, or shrimp.
My dacs use native drivers, not asio friendly. Best sound, just unmap the device, don't need any asio.
What does "unmap the device" mean?
Hi Scott, thanks for the clarification on the driver question, and especially on the pronunciation :)
The Firestone Fubar, with Supplier power supply, is a good little USB DAC. Also, the Scott Nixon DAC's are in your price range. I have not heard the Nixon DAC's.
