Hi, just installed Win VNC to my network but my viewer can't connect to server.I typed in the 192.168.1.13 to connect to the server,on my media pc as viewer. Do you know how to connect?
Follow Ups:
I assume you have configured the VNC service properly, set a password, and checked to be sure it is running on the host.I have had some difficulty using WinVNC on an XP platform. What symptom do you see? For me, it would attempt to connect, and a blank page would appear and then no response.
Apparently to discourage multiple concurrent users accessing the same PC, the Windows Remote Desktop and Terminal Services have checks in place to restrict access and logon to a single user at a time.
This apparently caused a conflict for WinVNC where it would connect, but then would not show the page. Disabling fast user switching, remote desktop, and windows terminal services solved the problem. VNC then worked fine.
Can you ping 192.168.1.13 on the media pc ?
Hi, yes just pingged 192.168.1.13 and got a reply!
Thanks:)mikee55
If you can ping it there is nothing wrong with basic connectivity. Is there any kind of switch or router / firewall in the path?
All I can think of is VNC is trying to use a port which is disabled.
Sorry thats TightVNC:)
