Well if paul s. pulled out the stock transformer of M60II. Thay were $2400. kit.If new transformer 470va $78.00 each. what was the stock?300va.Do u think it better?
Follow Ups:
If I remember correctly, Paul Speltz replaced the transformer primarily because he needed more heft to power the 6336 tubes he was using. Not sure what the bigger X-formers would do for/to an ordinary M60-MKii.
Hi Tubevibb ... I cannot comment regarding prices and what was used on the original - I have never owned a factory kit / factory build .
However , all I can say , is that I purchased my 1000 VA toroids for approx 140 Australian Dollars each.
Stu
I have a kit M60II, 1998,99 $2499 now $5/6000.Is it good to pull down v. Say 150v all tube in,Now 135v is that ok,good for sound? In M60II what,s va160 per winding?
I'll have a guess at the Question regarding the voltage for output stage .
Assuming the secondary vac is 100v , then rectified & Smoothed will be (1.4 x sec vac ) minus full wave bridge volt drop . ( 0.7 x 2 )
=> 100 x 1.4 = (140 vdc) - ( 1.4 ) = 138.6 Vdc .
What do you think ? - is this correct ?
Stu
In an M-60, the no-load voltage of the output B+ supplies is around 155V. Under full load (amp warmed up, and fully biased) it should settle at about 138V.
If we are to talk voltages - just how much AC ripple is present ? Under Load , and NO Load .
Ps - Ive explained that my DC supplies are down , due to the fact my primaries are all down by a percentage ( appox 5 % ) ie ..wound for 240 vac ...we actually have 230 vac .
My supphes have NO CRCRC. But 30,000uf per leag +/- per amp.thanks T.V.
Tubevibb ...Id like to see youre amps ...please let me see , just how you got so much storage under the hood ~!
Youre email address ???
Stu
Sorry no hood. ALL SO HEATRES 7V 80A FOR ALL. One transformer thanks.
The " Hood " , a term meaning under the cover . or under the chassis .
7v is above spec , but I guess you are thinking about voltage drop while underload . so will be closer to 6.3 in the end result .
Is this amp of yourse one big Stereo chassis ?? ...If I added mine together , they would be 62 amp @ 6.3 vac .
Again , I d like to see a picture of your amazing creation .
Stu
Yes, 6as7 was 28 soon 40.One chassis.All 10 6sn7 on it own chassis.
Ahhhh - I see a picture in my mind ..a double layered amp ..like a Stack ...I wanted to build with top & bottom layers .. big glass on top ( most heat ) ..small glass on bottom ...send the V4 signals up the pillars to the top chassis . !
Cheers Stu
Vary coooool! I do like the looook,s.But i have a room for all my work on CIRCLOTRON,S Amps pre speaker.I am in room next to my shop no HEAT! Big deal in FLA. Thanks
