Just a note regarding the 6SN7EH 's - I purchased 8 of them last week , and they have arrived with a poor presentation visually .
Unfortunately the tubes have been potted on a slant similiar to the leaning tower of pisa . I just hope they perform better than they look . Its a shame , as the monoblocks ive built will now have an eye catching glitch ...At least 6 out of the 8 are visually defective .
Follow Ups:
.
They have brought new life to my new otl monoblock thats for sure . I had a mixture of RCA , BRIMAR , and Radiotron australia before - all used - ex radios . The new tubes have created some attention in the workshop . Appearance is the only downside . Im hoping for a good outcome over all . Things are looking up !
I've seen many fine NOS tubes like that, although not 8 out of 8 random samples. They are probably OK to use.
Cheers Lew - yep - im actually totally stoked with the performance of my hand made Monoblocks - even with wonky driver tubes .Onwards from that - a BIG thanks to Ralph ! A few years back he allowed me to enter the world of OTL , and the enjoyment ive had in the workshop ( let alone in the ideal environment ) is totally due to his circuit design . Ive followed alot of tips , and overall taken great efforts to ensure that a good solid aluminium chassis supports his efforts . The sound is simply ' Magic ' . I program Touch Screens & Logic controllers ..while having the monoblock right next to me in our Freezing workshop - its approx 7 deg's C on average ..and the warmth of the 6as7G's next to me is a major bonus ..but its the clean sound that really warms the workshop .
