My friend also owns a pair of stack Quad ESL 57, and want to try to drive by Berning ZH270. However, We're not sure this amplifier is suitable to drive stack Quad ESL 57 or not. Refer to what David Berning told me the ZH270 has a maximum output voltage around 29 volts RMS. What you guys think?

SuperB, your profile doesn't accept unsolicited e-mail. I have some experience and information that might be useful to you, but my "dealer" status makes it politically incorrect for me to post it here. Shoot me an e-mail if interested.By the way, stacked Quads is one of the most cost-effective "ultimate" systems I know of. Best of luck with your project!
I think the Atma-Sphere S-30 at 30 WPC is a better choice.
Jeff
Hes using the quads stacked so might be fine with the berning but that atmasphere is a better choice because of no transformer. You can go higher power when stacking them but you still want to be cautious.
Do you think the clamp board build inside the Quad 57s avoid any damage from high power?
Super
I have martin logans and I have one pair of acoustats still and those werent sensative like the quads were but I think the clamp in the quads bleeds down the panel bias when it senses too much power hopefully.Usually distortion is what takes out drivers in most speakers but in the electrostats that doesnt hold true because distoriton is a DC clip on the sine wave and of course stats being a capacitor blocks DC..Over power tho on the 57s toast them.
