I could never achieve optimal tonal balance or quiteness with OTL amps for horns. A good SET amp may be a better choice, but of course YMMV.

My experience is completely the opposite. With my Edgar Horns, 105db give or take, my Atma-Sphere S30 is dead quiet. I find that the opposite is true with SET amps with some being noisy enough to easily be heard at the listening position and others having just a little hum that noticeable if you put your ear to the speaker. As far as tonal balance, yes, YMMV, and I do like the SET distortions.
I am having great success with Atma-Sphere M60's powering Köchel K-300 horns.
impressive speed. dynamics to die for, and excellent tonal. i thot it was by far the most lifelike sound at the show. that is why i am interested in these babies.
...a few years ago at Midwest Audio Fest and was duly impressed myself.
