While the power supply boost and teflon caps will certainly help, I agree that without the ZERO autoformers the performance might be marginal, but it's worth a try. If considering MA-1s I would recommend Mk II.2 or later if possible; Mk II.3s built this year are easier on the output tubes and have some other advantages. Perhaps Ralph Karsten or Bill Layer will chime in here to comment on how they might match up with your speakers as compared with current M-60s.

Thanks, but what do you mean by "marginal"? Does it mean that you can't play very loud, or that that amplifier sounds bad, e.g. no dynamics or bass?I prefer not to use the Zero's. A few years ago I've tried them with a Graaf GM20 OTL and in my opinion the sound lost some of it's OTL magic.
I defer to Ralph's comments. Try them with and without the ZEROs if you can.
Generally Avalon speakers have worked extremely well with our amps. In this case I would try it with and without the ZERO and see which you like better.
