Does anyone own a pair of these ? They were made by a guy in Richardson Texas.
Follow Ups:
I owned a pair for several years prior to discovering the Atma-sphere products. They were essentially beautifully executed Futterman amplifiers, built like a pair of army tanks (monoblocks). There are many ways in which they could be upgraded. I had the chance to compare them in my home to a pair of Futterman H3aa's, actually made for me by Julius himself, and to a pair of Fourier amplifiers. The latter were not close to the Futtermans and the Prodigys, and the Prodigy had a slight edge on the Futterman. If I owned a pair now I would ditch the silicon bridge rectifiers in favor of Hexfreds or Schottkes or TV damper diodes, upgrade the coupling caps to teflon, bypass the (electrolytic) coupling caps extensively, probably change up some resistors for nude Vishay or Caddock, etc. One never sees Prodigy amplifiers on the used market. Don't know why unless those that own them still love them.
Its been years since I have seen a set. They are based on the Futterman circuit, but of all the OTLs that use the Futterman circuit (Silvaweld, Counterpoint, Fourier, etc.) the Prodigy was the best execution by far. A year or two after they got going, they introduced a hybrid amplifier and that was the end of them. If that sounds familier, it should!
