Hi OTLers and ALtec lovers ! I'm working on a DIYed OTL pair of monoblocks to drive my A5 biamped , and specially 515G . It's well known that the A7 enclosure lack of deep-bass response , below 70Hz . I'm asking myself , and for sure , all of you : Did somebody tried a "built in" feedbackloop including an inductance - 50 to 80Hys - to boost this VLF range ? ?? tunable ??! hu ??? i have a pair left . Any experience ? thanks to you folks !

Altecs don't really do deep bass. You really need an equalizer to do the job. My guess is you will have quite a bit of boost at 20Hz- enough that you will have problems with the drivers in the speaker. Had you considered a subwoofer?
Hi Ralph, eq is a solution for sure , but as the need remains under the 100 Hz band , i'm considering this solution seen in a pro PA amp . Subwoofing an A7 seems to have pros and cons (unofficial Altec forum) because of the important mod of the cab . So , i'm looking to consider this single inductance solution as an easy way to tune the 25/70 Hz boost . regards

What DIY OTL are you building?
Hi , it 's a derivate of a jap circuitry with 12AX7 , 2x 5687 and 12BY7 as current source for the 5687' and , instead of 6C33 , a bunch of 10 6080' .cheerz

jap?
Hi , jap means japanese for me in Europe . I do not understand your answer , excuse my poor english and i apologize if i said something wrong . Sincerely yours. Pierre
I didn't have a problem with the term. Hhowever I have found that a number of people in the forums feel that the term "jap" is derogitory to Japanese people and comes from a term used in WWII. I was merely giving you a heads-up that some may attack your use of the word.I posted the note based on personal experience.
On the other hand, this forum is fairly small and those here are sensible enough to realize that you meant no disrespect at all.
Thank you for not shooting the messenger!
Hi Paul , see you post just commin' back from lunch in Japanese restaurant ;-) !
