Has anyone tried these, which are advertised as "Close copies of NOS Tung-Sols"? Are they anything special / improvement over stock Chinese tubes (in AtmaSpheres)?
Follow Ups:
I can second Legendre's comment about Heater Cathode troubles. I have, sitting next to me as we speak, between 30 and 40 of them which all show some degree or other of heater cathode leakage brand new fresh out of the box. That said, the few that did not exhibit this have held their sound, even after burning in.
This tube has been a real disappointment..When new, they sound absolutely fantastic - to my ears, probably the best 6SN7 I've ever heard. Problem is, after very little service, they start to show defects. Crackle, sputter, and other noise problems. We've had several support calls, where the issues were traced to the use of this tube.
It was rumored that the first run(s) of this tube had problems with cathode contamination at the factory. Newer runs may be better, and we have a new set here that we intend to try out.
I hope the issues are solved; the sonics of this tube hold great promise.
Mine, also, went noisy pretty quickly. Even new, they do not sound as good as Tungsol roundplates, but they were pretty fair, and quite cheap.
Wow, even better than NOS, or just compared to new production tubes?
