Whether it be SACD, LP, CD etc. It doesn't matter as this music is priceless and the sound secondary.

The Village Vanguard sessions do sound pretty good.
A very satisfying listen. It takes getting used to the bass player picking his bass like it was a banjo, but after a few listens you start to see what he's getting at.The sound quality is disarming. All they used was a lowly little Ampex reel-to-reel laid on a table in front of the stage. Glasses clinking, people laughing... it's unreal.
I took the plunge and got the 3 disc set (a fellow inmate's recommendation) never having heard Bill Evans and only getting started on jazz. Best CD purchase ever.
