Hey Kava,Sorry, I couldn't give these the attention they deserved -- I've hardly had time for *any* music the past 2 weeks. The first piece is the only one I managed to hear closely - beautiful tune. Initially thought it may be Basie's band with guest soloists... in short I had no clue.
Apart from being a lot busier than usual I've got the ignoramus excuse -- I had no clue about any of the pieces and knew that the players were all new to me.
Actually I am quite surprised no one else responded. Generally if one of us has an off week the others pick up the slack. Hope this doesn't put a permanent damper on this. Would hate to lose my number one source of interesting new music !!!
Follow Ups:
at least I know there wasn't a boycott. Did you make the connection on Bill Chase. Great trumpeter who went on to form a Brass-based rock band called "Chase". Then he went and got killed in a planbe crash

I got the Glen Gray thing and Bill Chase with Woody. Didn't remember who the bari player was in that band. I chalk that stuff up to age.....again.
the bari player was a local boy from up here. Ended up teaching at SUNY but died a couple of years ago. Nick Brignola - very well regarded.

opionated.com showed up in my mailbox later then my post. It is "postmarked" earlier but the notification took a while.

Nope. Never heard of Chase. The trumpeter on #6 sounded a bit like Maynard Ferguson to me but the tone is of course all different.
... THANKS!!! I know this whole exercise may sometimes feel like dangling pearls before swine... but I am sure a lot of us appreciate the effort that's put in. I will definitely get to these once things ease up at my end.
xoxo
