I'll start with #5: JRM, TF(p),and if my memory is straight JG and PL. The tenor cat is a player I used to hear in a transvestite joint in the Village in the '50,s. I may be wrong because I don't have the recording (I'm sure somebody I knew had it) but used to dig the cat Also saw him do duets with Jim Hall----that is if it's who I think it is. Well it's worth a shot.

100% Correct-I'm assuming the rest of your comments also refer to JRM. Toldya these would be easier!

They do refer to him but that doesn't mean it's easy. I'm probably one of the few around here that heard him live many times. It sounded so damn familiar but I had trouble with recall. It was driving me nuts. That was an era I lived through and I still had trouble. Actually I was pretty lucky!
Yeah #5 was driving me nuts too -- it seemed so familiar. But I was about to guess Sonny Rollins because of the squawks.
I don't know if that is the right term... I was referring to the sort of abrasive tone he uses on the first note on many phrases in the lower register.
