Cats will poop in it.

That would be quite a feat! First he'd have to claw through 3/4" plywood to get to it.
Funny story about a HUGE box of sand and a cat.I used to be into Holography. Not the shiny silver kinda 3D sticker things. True transmission or reflection holograms. If you've ever seen one, they are AMAZING. A laser is required to view it (as well as create one). Anyway, the process requires an absolute vibration free way to hold the mirrors, lenses, plate, shutter and laser. Basically a very big, very stable, isolation platform. Mine was on a concrete slab, with layers of foam and concrete blocks, then four inner-tubes, then a box filled with sand. Two thousand pounds of sand. Double washed amber colored sand (no dust, less reflection of red laser light).
After my holography platform was completed my cat took no time at all to discover it. Fortunately I was in the room. We made eye contact. You could see it in his eyes. He was actually twitchy from finding this REALLY GREAT thing. I put a heavy plywood cover on it. He would go in there and worry on that cover for hours. He was a huge cat but couldn't move the cover. After I started seeing marks and grooves on the wood, I kept the room closed up.
I hear you. Cats are quite special.

Their cousins can claw through zebras, wildebeasts and elephants. Have you looked at cute little fluffy's claws and teeth? House cats have only been "domesticated" for a few thousand years. Evolution takes tens of thousands of years to change a species. House cats are still superb predators. Plywood?...meow
Call me crazy, but that is the number one reason not to get a cat. :) Number 2 is that they can kill maggie and live to do so.

I am a cat person, and was playing a bit.If my house was a bit bigger, i would have a couple, but CA housing prices are astronomical at about $600/sqft.
Not too long ago i house sat, and their cat was one of the best I have ever seen...just cool and no maintenance. She was a tiny tabby and was let out in the morning, and returned at night. Sort of an indoor out door cat.
No offence taken. It's just that I've seen so many bad raps on cats on audioasylum(!) that I must be getting a bit sensitive.
I have 8 indoor only cats and have had cats on a serious basis for about 40 years.
Believe me, it take BALLS to have that many indoor cats, AND vigilance. But they're more than worth it.

Only kidding. Honest.
