did you install the plasma yourself or proffesionally? How are the cables from the tv ran? (inside the fireplace, then through studs, etc.,)did you have to rip the drywall? And are you still able to use the fireplace? I ask because I've considered hanging mine over the fireplace as well.

Follow Ups:
I installed it myself. Got a tilting mount off eBay (about $70). Had to drill a couple of holes in the brick, but the mounting was simple. The cables are being run through a little Home Depot conduit, if you look on the left side of the TV you'll see there's an off-white cover running down the side of the fireplace. By running it off to the side of the fireplace it's less noticeable. I'm still playing with the wiring, once all that is done I'll paint the conduit. Right now I'm renting since the housing market it tanking, waiting for it to hit bottom, so I didn't want any super-elaborate install.
I can use the fireplace and other than a couple of mounting holes in the brick, it's a simple install, no drywall cutting/work. If I owned the place, I'd look into a more permanent/hidden mounting.
One key to hanging it over the fireplace is to hang it as low as you can. Don't want to strain your neck looking at it.
what type of screws, lugs did you use precisely? Did you use expanding anchors for the brick? Looks nice, very nice. You'll probably get some comments on the uncovered windows as bad reflection points.
I once rented a house similar to yours:

The screws came with the tv mount. They were large carriage bolts with plastic expanding inserts. I got a masonry drill bit and drilled directly into the brick. The brick masonry is strong enough that I didn't worry about hitting a stud. The TV is a 50" Visio, and it's HEAVY, supposedly one of heaviest 50"ers out there, so I took my time. Lifting it into the mount is definitely a two person job. A friend of mine did his 65" Plasma and that was a 4-person job...:)Given the weight of the display I wanted to make sure I used what came with the kit, which was rated up to 160lbs. The tilting is nice too, because it points the TV directly at me. Given that it's mounted above eye level, this makes a nice difference.
Yeah, the windows aren't ideal, but I like to have the lighting and be able to look outside. I figure having the blinds helps some.
