That is ... replace the unbelievably crappy-sounding, zinc-plated Maggie fuse holder with a high-quality fuse holder like the cryoed silver one from Acme Audio Labs. The signal still has to pass through the stock Maggie fuse holder, even if you have a "great sounding" fuse. Yes, this fuse will improve the sound but it's still being throttled by the fuse holder so replacing that will yield a much greater improvement! :-((

I like this idea Andy..Not able to look at the stock fuse holder at this moment, how easy would you say this exchange is?
certainly not for people who don't like "getting serious" with their Maggies, as they might like to sell them and so want them to look "original". This is a "one-way" tweak! :-))Here's a pic which shows how I fitted the Acme Audio labs fuse holder:
