I use 35' ICs between my preamp and active XOs. For this length you need the IC to:
a) have a low C construction, and
b) be (probably) shielded.Getting good sound from the above combination is difficult. Just using one of the "recommended" Belden coaxes may be OK as they're quite low in capacitance however, as I'm into DIY, I built mine using one of Allen Wright's recipes from his "Super Cable Cook Book".
Helluva lot of work, though, for that length! :-((

Jeez Andy 35 ft?Why would someone go to all the trouble you have to fix Maggie, and then use such long runs?? Are rooms that big in the land of OZ?
Hey DR,When I designed my "listening room" 20 years ago, I didn't know as much as I do now ... else I would probably have done it differently! :-))
But the room is not "all mine" so WAF means it needs to stay as it was designed. I consider myself lucky she's happy to put up with Miss Maggie and her rather imposing stands!! :-))
It was basically Allen's IC recipe #4 'cept I turned it into a shielded IC. Send me a msg with your email address if you'd like to get the construction instructions.

Whatever Andy :).I have the book, so I can figure it out. Just wanted to see which one of his designs you dig, and if you think his rating system is accurate.
I guess I am a bit spoiled, as my wife has taken the "I don't care what you do, as long as I don't see it."
So I have fairly short runs, or will once I get it all set up again.
The thing that sucks, is that I probably will have to make some new speaker cables for this, as all mine are 5ft, and I probably need 6-7ft cables!
Having a PC based systems helps here, because it is all controlled wirelessly, so the ICs can be very short too.
