Return to Planar Speaker Asylum

I just stumbled upon these on ebay and had to buy one. They are Tripath based and appear to be similar to the Carver ZR1000 except not a pro-amp. Looks Carver like with meters etc. Also found some threads in the General Asylum saying: "It looks likes it's a dead
ringer for the Bel Canto Evo 200.2 which have gotten
several "BEST AMP EVER"". Rated at 325wpc into 4ohms. Should make my SMGAs sing. I got them for less than the buy it now of $275!Im not connected with the seller in any way BTW. Heres the link:

The 7T doesn't appear to be on their Web site though.
Jim,Do a search for these on the General Asylum. Short story: Audiosource had some issues with RFI and could not get it past FCC regulations. The holding company, PhoenixGold, decided to make it a Carver Pro product.
These amps are pretty rare and could very well be a collector's item. I ordered one, just to see what it could do for the paltry sum of $225.
This amp is not on their site at all. Is it fairly new? I currently have a AudioSource 300 amp powering my MMG's (x-over at 80 W/ subwoofer). I haven't had a problem with it until the Speakers A connection went dead. I rehooked it up through Speakers B and it is fine. I had the amp not even a year before this problem happened. Makes me feel a little shakey about AudioSource in general.
The 7T was introduced about seven years ago but never went to market due to not passing FCC regulations. It is safe to say that these "new" amps on ebay right now are actually seven years old.
I followed you ebay link and put in what I thought was an obsurd offer and guess what, she took it!
Pete, how low did they go? I might consider getting one.
I put in a bid for $225 and it was taken. $255 was the total including shipping. I would try $200 and see if she takes it.
Thanks, I've got one on the way. I'll see how it compares with the old 200.2 I had.
Look forward to your evaluation. Ive not listened to a high power Tripath based product so Im quite interested in how the performance of a budget implementation compares to a highly regarded one.
Keep in mind that I sold my Bel Canto a while ago, so it won't be a true head-to-head comparison.
I saw that. I decided to get the Audiosource AMP300 for my new SMGa's instead. If you like the T7 I'll buy one too.
VERY interesting. Imagine buying this for <$300 and a Ming Da tubed preamp from Pacific Valve for <$500. A person could put together a very interesting system together for <$800.
