Return to Planar Speaker Asylum

T'was listening this morning to an acapella group called Tonic Sol-Fa. The name of the CD is "Style". With a few exceptions the songs are great fun to listen to and there are almost no instruments other than four voices and finger snaps. Great arrangements. The bass singer makes me keep forgeting there isn't a bass guitar back there somewhere. So why am I bothering you folks with this post? Because on my system to my ears, this is the most convincing illusion I've ever heard of the guys standing right there in the room. Clear, clean, great spectral balance. Best thing is the imaging. I swear I can hear one of the singers move his head slightly in front of the microphone.
Follow Ups:
..for this & the follow-up posts - it's very interesting to learn what *music* others are enjoying on their various maggie systems. After reading these threads I often find myself checking out things I never would otherwise have encountered. Which, at least for me, gets back to the reason I gravitated to these speakers in the first place. so, thanks. scott.

Believe what your ears say - not hearsay.
...except for a good ESL. It does it much better!
For Bass guitars: Four Play- Bali Run or Marcus Miller- the Sun Don't Lie
NT
1. Acapella, (it's what actually made me take out my credit card)
2. piano (although I'd like to feel more of a 'dynamic' involvement)
3. and last but not least: upright bass, pure excitement)

I feel particularly fortunate to have found a placement of speakers and listening position that give me bass flat to +/- 2dB from about 250 Hz down to 40Hz. Upright basses, bass singers, bass guitars, drums all sound as good as the recording will let them. As you say, pure excitement.
"I swear I can hear one of the singers move his head slightly in front of the microphone"That's not surprising when you are listening to maggies.
