I am considering buying a pair of redone Quad ESL 57s from Wayne of Quads Unlimited. I'm sure I'll be very happy, but would like to listen to them first. Does anyone have any of these from Wayne that would care to comment on, or better yet, anybody in upstate new york around Albany that would be willing to let me listen to theirs? I can bring the beers/food.

Follow Ups:
I have original-condition 57's and I am probably 2 hours from Albany (not too far from Worcester, MA)... but if those parameters are close enough for Government work, you're welcome to schlepp over for an audition sometime! :-) You dont' even have to bring food. Or beer. There are Quad-ites in NY State, tho'... I know this for sure.
presently Beveridge 3's, I can tell you the 57's, in good condition will not disappoint you. Their pro's so far outweigh their cons; I do not recall hardly anyone that did not think they were quite special. (unless they are asked to do something they are not physically able to do - like rock your house down) Buying a pair from the guys that refurbish them in lieu of buying off ebay is a big plus.
For their relatively low price, I personally think they are one of the best audio products ever produced and one of the top two or three speakers ever produced.
If you audition them, bring plenty of beer because you won't want to leave.
Actually, I haven't ever heard the 57s. I have had Acoustat model 3s so I have some experience with electrostatics. I've read nothing but glowing reviews of Wayne's work, so I'm sure I would be happy with them, I'd just like to hear the 57s first if possible.

Bill,
if you like the 57's you will love the ones from Wayne. I am very happy with his tweeters and will soon order bass panels from him.
Best,
