worn out capacitors in a old amp can present the same signs.____________//________________

I have a Pioneer Elite receiver that's about 5 years old.I just tested it and it's definitely the speaker. I moved it to the other side and it still exhibits the same 'cutting out' behaviour. This time for longer periods, then it comes back to normal.
When the sound cuts out it appears to be the tweeter section because muffled sound does come from the speaker.
If could it be a break in the wire that could be fixed with conductive epoxy?
Sounds like you have narrowed it down to the tweeter, or the internal wiring to the tweeter.
Also...have you checked the fuse out carefully?
I did remove the fuse and gave it a good visual. It appears intact. The wire inside is more silver at the ends and darker in the middle portion. Is this typical?
I'll connected it to a DMM and tap on it to see if there is good continuity.
I'll also switch fuses and see if it makes a difference.
