I went to the local car audio store. Bought some heavy gauge wire with the conductors separated by about 1/2". Sounds great on my ETs. Spend your money on an SACD player and some True DSD recordings. You will be happy.
Follow Ups:
I think I might have to borrow a friends SACD player and see what all the fuss is about.
They can put any kind of crap on an SACD, but when the recording is pure DSD, and not messed with, and put on the SACD, wow! Fortunatly the ETs are able to reveal the quality. It is a unique and moving listenting expereince.A prime example is Red Rose Music's SACD sampler. I actually visted the site in NYC where the recording was made. 2 microphones, a high quality tube preamp and a prototype Sony DSD recorder. That is it. I have yet to hear this recording quality bettered.
This also seems to be the "general" recommendation from Bruce Thigpen, owner of ET but his view in my opinion is somewhat conservative. In all fairness how can he tell people to go out and buy spk wires that in most cases are more expensive that his speakers! ...He's just that kind of a guy.I have experimented with copper, silver and blends of the aforementioned, as well as bi-wire and single wired w/ jumpers. My experimentation has lead me to the use of a single run of spk cables w/ (like)jumpers do the best job in my system. This configuration gives what I consider the best cohesiveness between woofer & panels.
I also agree a "good SACD player with DSD recordings" would be a first consideration before any issues of cables should be addressed.
With the right patience, your rewards will be unbelievable.
It seems that both you and Tom agree on a good SACD player. I really hate to buy a $$$ one as it looks like the SACD format is not moving forward at all but has stalled. But it might be a good time to pick up a good quailty used one.
As far as speaker cable goes the DH Labs and Goertz cables are under $200. so I find them reasonabily priced.
