Hi folks.I have a pair of 1.6 and I would like to know your opinion about those two inductors:
alphacore and madisound sledgehammer.Which one is prefered and why?
I will also post my findings.
Follow Ups:
I have had both in my MGIIIAs.The Alpha Cores have more surface area so the high frequencies travel easier. This makes them superior in mid and high frequencies, according to the guys at partsexpress.com.
I put the SH inductors in the bass crossovers of the maggies. They had a big impact on the bass. According to the guys at px, they are designed for use at 500hz and below only. I have not tried them on an mid or high frequency apps. If you search the archieves, you may find a discussion on the SH inductors in which someone explains how the lower DCR leads to an increase of 3db or more at 60hz (or something impressively technical like that).
The SH inductors have a lower DCR than the alphacore and the North Creek inductors. As a result, low frequencies travel through them easier, they say. It is the surface area that improves the high frequencies for the alphacores.
Probably could be a controversial subject.I imagine that either is a great improvement compared to stock, with the Madisounds giving a bigger bang for the buck.
I doubt that many have done an A-B...instead just making the decision based on what they have read and/or their pocketbook.
Exactly. I went with the alphacores. They were more expensive, so they must be better. Right? Right......? (-:
