I saw a pr of MG3.6 mye used stands for sale and was trying to figure out if I can adapt them to my IIIa's. From what I understand the width of the stand srew holes is 17.5" and mine are 15.5. I was thinking if I just drilled new holes in the pannel it might just work.I cant afford new one's and this might be a way for me to get them. Any thoughts or sudgestions.
Follow Ups:
The mounting posts are wider, but there is material to fasten to at the bottom; center the base on the panel and you're good. At the top the width is just about perfect. Just be careful where you drill. :)
I can be another satisfied user that can recomend these stands
Let me know if you have any questions at all via email or here if you like.
Let me take some dimensions for you to make sure they'll work.
Hi fin1bxn,By "screw holes" I presume you mean the screw holes in the base of the MDF frame which normally take the wimpy Maggie-feet?
If so then you'd have no problems drilling new holes in the base on the MDF frame which are the correct distance apart ... but you might have to figure out a way of embedding the nuts into the MDF? Or simply bolt the Mye stands right through the MDF (have the mushroom heads of the bolts at the front and the nuts at the back of the stands).
The only other problem you might have is where to fix the struts? As I understand it, they clamp onto the sides of the MDF frame and they might be set for the extra width of the 3.6s? I believe these struts are bolted to the base of the Mye stand so, again, maybe they can be re-bolted 2" narrower?

Andy,Grant is great at answering questions about his stands and takes the time to work out all the details to your satisfaction. I'm discovering new details in my favorite recordings, making me go back and play records and CDs I haven't listened to in years.
You will not be disappointed. I had a friend over last night who is a record producer. He always brings over his latest to hear it on my system. He was blown away by the imaging, mid-range, and bass.
