I have a Magnum 99 about 4-5 yrs old, which is currently at Rogue getting fixed...with only a few hundred hours total listening time...ouch!My Magnum m-120's have given me a few problems with distortion, though I bought new fuses (3 needed to be replaced, but I decided to get all new ones), and I'm getting all new tubes...I belive it's a tube problem...very little time w/ thes amps also, though I've had them for about 5 years. Failing fuses and tubes seem to be a familiar thing w/ the 120's, moreso for the older models.
BTW all my gear was purchased new.
OK...what model(s) of Rogue amps do you have w/ what size Maggie and how do they work for you?
I had another question or two, but the scotch has seemed to assist me in forgetting ;-)

Those of you w/ the 99 are familiar w/ the seperate power supply. FWI, Use care when connecting the power supply to the 99. If done with force or incorrectly it is posssible to break the connection pins on the 99.

Rogue products are a fine combination with Maggies. Rogue offers relatively high powered amps for relatively affordable prices. The customer service from Rogue is one the best. I used the M-120 monoblocks Magnum with the 1.6s and the 3.6s. (The only problem I ever had with them is the rectifier blew in one of the amps. Mark O'Brien immediately sent me a replacement and it was easier than changing a light bulb to replace. Other than that, they performed flawlessly.) With a 120 watts of tube power I had no problem in running the 3.6s in my moderately sized room at moderate volumes. The Rogues were replaced with the H2O digital amp and I did notice that a higher powered amp was able to provide some improvements, particularly in the bass, by taking better control over the panels. And, although the H2O has many tube like qualities, it never could reproduce the body, weight and fullness of sound the way the Rogues could. Sometimes the Rogues didn't have enough warmth as I would have liked and were a little too clean, a tad too solid state sounding. And, I wouldn't say the M-120s were the most musical of tube amps that I have heard, but considering all the features it had (a triode/pentode switch, self biasing), it is a good choice for those seeking tube amps with some muscle for an affordable price.
This is a wonderful combination. I replaced the stock power cords, and also replaced the fuses with hi-fi tuning fuses. Those changes bring this gear to another level.I've compared this combination to a variety of very highly regarded gear (up to $6,000 worth) and haven't found anything with the midrange purity and transient speed of the Rogue gear.
I've had this six months - it's not going anywhere.
I'm running stock tubes, have had no problems whatsoever.
Hi Jon,
I love my system (Cary 303-300 CDP into Rogue M99 into M150's into Autoformers into Maggie 3.6R's with Mye Stands).
My experience with Rogue has been good. I bought mine as demos with a full warranty, and Fedex managed to drop kick one of the M150's, which Rogue repaired to perfection. I have found that the fuses are a bit sensitive, and one must religiously adhere to the sequence of turning on the M150's last and shutting them off first, or it's fuse time. I retubed the units after a year of heavy listening as I think some of the tubes also suffered in the shipping and handling debacle.
Most of the folks that come over to my house to hear the system are blown away by the imaging, soundstage, detail, and believe it or not, the bass.
Rogue's customer service is some of the best I've ever experienced, if not the best. Their service after the sale is unparalleled in my opinion. They are honest and helpful, and have also been very instrumental in tube upgrades, which have been magnificent.
I also think that little things that make life easier (like the built in biasing meters on the M150's) make owning tubes that much more fun.
For my ears, I've achieved the "house sound" that I want and am very satisfied, actually ecstatic, about my system.
Mileage may vary, but it's all good for me!
Hope this helps,
Jerry
Thanks for bringing this up! I have heard some people recommend Rogue w/ Maggies but when I have inquired about specifics from owners there doesnt seem to be much of a reply.OK I'm not an owner (yet). But after several months of looking at my options I am pretty much set on using a used Rogue 66 Magnum with 2 Behringer EP1500 amps, Behringer DCX2496 xover, on my MMG's. How do you guys think that would work? Any better options for <$1500 for amps and pre?
I'm not trying to threadjack here. But I am really curious as to what Rogue gear has worked well w/ Maggies.
