.. but just wanted to be certain.I've been having to shift the balance control on my tube pre-amp more and more to the right over the last few months. It started off needing to be left of center.. then gradually moved to the middle.. but now it's moving to the right.
So it appears that my right speaker (MG12) is losing volume over time.
I suspect this is an issue with my pre-amp, but wanted to eliminate one other thing that crossed my mind - my sub sits next to the right speaker, about 1 foot away. Does the strong magnet in a sub have any adverse effects on a maggie if it sits nearby for a long time?
Follow Ups:
Easier than changing tubes, just switch you interconnects over and see if the sound follows.Cheers,
This is especially true if the loss is mostly in the treble.
Try switching tubes in the pre. If the loss of volume follows the tube ...it's the tube. If it stays the same you need to check a little deeper or have it serviced.
