bizarre audiophile ritualsYou mean like cleaning big round black disks so they make a few less clicks and pops and then getting up to flip it? I wouldn't think 23 cats worth of cat hair would go too well with that. :-D You know, they have these digital laser thingies that have been around FOR OVER 20 YEARS now that play clean crisp sound.

Follow Ups:
an LP and left the room then heard some strange noises, only to come back & find your cat, high as a kite on "nip", cruising 'round & 'round on your TT swatting at the tone arm everytime he went around? Just thought I'd ask, 'cause it sounds hilarious.Even though I only have 2 animals here, my worst problem is the dust generated from oil heat. I've had the ducts cleaned & use an electrostatic filter but that stuff gets everywhere.
Hi,to all the catlovers (alluyrophiles? is it?)
If 'georgeous george' ever does that I will kill him! It probably helps to play LP's with the lid down, I think.
He loves to sit on top of the TT - on the clear lid - if I leave 'the 100 watt ES, ambient temperature and to see what I am doing, lamp' - on.
He also loves to sit on the tubed tuner (receiver), he can't sit on the tube power amps anymore. Loves the big SS pure class A Stax, at least it stops the faint mechanical buzz!
George is the latest cat (boss?!) here, his sister was knocked down in the street last year, she was one of the top kittens in their litter and G. was the runt, they 'buddied up' real early though, perhaps 'cos our youngest chose them and played with them both a lot ome the get go.
He is named after George Kostanza! LoL!
One and a bit and as mad on climbing and chasing and running and chasing and leaping, and mock fighting, and flipping the mats, and running and chasing, and ....... pant pant. Then, out like a light!
And as cute as a silver grey all over cat can be. Looks dark gray, with silver edges in the right light. Like velvet?
Doesn't look like a moggie - which he is, but - a bit 'blue burmese' and / or a bit 'russian blue' to boot. Coat is like oiled silk to touch - a white flash on his groin.
We used to have brown Burm's.

but have you ever put on an lp, left the room, and then heard strange noises, only to come back and find your husband high as a kite from a little nip stumbling in and around the player, swatting at the tone arm....umm me neither.
go into detail at this time!
...while it was in use. Scared the hell out of the cat. He jumped right off, leaving a fine set of claw marks on the album. I think of him every time I play it!

I have two cats. I have one AWFUL cheap old turntable. I had it out once and the cats were mesmerized by it. I touched one of them while he was watching it and he jumped. They've been afraid of it ever since so it's not a problem but I'm so disgusted with the turntable I never use it. Boy, the cat hair though.

When my children were small & they went running across the room right in front of the rack & I watched with fascination as the tonearm did the triple jump right into the label. I put it away after that & it never saw the light of day again.I was watching a piece on the news last night that said kids who grow up with animals have less allergies. Another good reason for having the critters in the house.
