Their heirs must still be around somewhere. I wonder if the film makers or their associates are still around today as well. I'd love to hear what inspired them, although I guess it's obvious :-)

Perhaps if the filmers were fairly young. No doubt the obvious reason for this documentary was their love for their cat family.
It's almost a typical human story in some ways. You could almost put some typical human family dialog into their mouths in many cases.
... and write a script for this movie and dub the necessary dialogue for us all to enjoy. Sound effects would be interesting as well.
I've got the equipment and software to do a pro job of it. Now, if I can do Garfield and Morris voices without getting sued...
I don't think you'll be sued unless you promote it for profit-making purposes, but then I'm no attorney.
I'm certainly no voice impressionist. But I am downloading the film in the highest resolution I can so I can play with it in my video editing software.
