Pebbles was her brothers cat from 6 weeks. Shelly's had her since she was about 1, we've had her together for going on 8 years now. Pebbles is a hair shy of 18 and getting very thin (about 3 1/2 pounds). She has hyper thyroid disease and some heart issues. We and the vet feel she is not by any means suffering, but we all know she is living on borrowed time. We give her 3 pills a day, fresh salmon, liverwurst and raw egg yolks as that's what we've found (by lots of expensive trial and error) she likes. She seems to be getting a tad better right now, but....
Thanks for your post. I can speak for Shelly also; we feel for you.
Best,
Follow Ups:
We went through the entire lineup of cat foods. Treated her like a spoiled brat, trying to keep her weight up and her interest in eating. Vet said she was the equivalent of a Big Mac junkie.Yours, at 3 1/2 lbs., probably will be checking out soon. Be ready.
We do give her anything she wants! And buy plenty of others trying to satisfy her cravings, trust me.
I did not intend to steal anything from the original poster on this. This is their moment. But thank you all anyway. I'll be posting here my own eulogy too soon I feel.

My best to you and yours who are involved in that process. Damn "kids" always tugging at your heartstrings.
