True terror is to wake up one morning and discover that your high school class is running the country.
the film just isn't as good. I was very taken with his critique of human arrogance. I sometimes wonder if the planet oughtn't try to get rid of us, before it's too late!So I should read more? MM's recommendations?
and I loved Sam Clemens, his Mysterious Stranger is very very apt about us Huming Beans.
The latter being how I first thought it was pronounced, when I was a toddler - one of my most clear memories of my late Dad, is him cracking up over it!
WarmestTimbo in Oz
The Skyptical Mensurer and Audio ScroungerAnd gladly would he learn and gladly teach - Chaucer. ;-)!
'Still not saluting.'
Cat's Cradle is certainly one of my favs, as is Sirens of Titan.Of course, you know Slaughterhouse 5.

One of the great U.S. authors, often compared to Mark Twain. He was 84 years old and from what I just heard on the NPR news, he died from complications from a head injury sustained in a fall recently.
far more important news that what's going on with Imus. But we must have something to keep the micro-minds occupied so they don't dwell on things that affect their lives more than a loud mouth making a gaffe! My God...they may even remember that old news about fired judges! Or, heaven forbid, the death squads in Africa.
No, Imus is more important. More important than an author who was a superb judge of human behavior and actually forced people to THINK!

If I had more money I'd soon be broke...but I'd have more LPs!
