Next time you paint, get a 5 gallon bucket (like the guy in the car accident!) and a screen (expanded metal, get it where you get the bucket) that hangs over the edge inside the bucket. Dump your gallon(s) of paint into the bucket and get the job several times faster than using the tray because you're not spending all your time painting the tray with the roller. Paint drips off the screen back into the bucket, which actually lets you use less paint while getting better coverage. Trust me, it works. A friend turned me onto this, and I swear I'll never use a tray again.
Best regards,
Follow Ups:
I learned it from a pro plaster repair guy. Make sure you rinse it off immediately after using & it'll last for years. Oh, get one of those hook thingies that you clip onto the ladder & bucket.
Ok, I follow most of that, but....So what you're saying is dip the roller right into the paint and then "paint" the screen to remove the excess?
Outta here for the night w/o news on my sick PC yet. (sigh)
Ergo grex, ergo sum.

...except I'd never use that putrid looking bright yellow :-)
Best regards,
Yeah, dip the roller right down into the bucket and gently roll the roller back and forth against the expanded metal screen to wring the excess paint out of it and back into the bucket. (The screen is very open, so nearly all the excess goes back into the bucket.) You learn quickly not to do that too fast so you don't splatter paint all over, but it's so much better than the tray, plus you can load up the roller more than you can with the tray.
Best regards,
nt
