I hate sitting with a coat on in my basement! With warmer weather approaching I promise to be down here listening to music and playing at the computer far more often than I have been. It's surprising how 62 trillion operations make one dislike being cold. One day, I'll install a pellet or propane stove down here...both for ass saving in case of power disruptions and for over-all comfort.

... how are you these days? You've had a rough time this last year and gave us all a bit of a scare there...

I really can't remember when I felt as good as I do now. My kidney function (I forget the letter designation on the blood test readout) was 4.7 when I had congestive heart failure two years ago. I would imagine that's really bad, I think below two is normal. Mine is 2.1 now. Quite a bit of an improvement, I'd say!I keep losing weight at a good pace...not too fast, not too slowly. I was 307 for (it seemed) forever, I weighed 295 as of this morning. I looked great at 250 when I was a muscular 30 year old, so that's the first goal.
I am no where near as muscle-bound as I was then, not even anywhere close! Hell I have a photo of me holding 4 women. One on each hip, one riding piggyback and one sitting on my shoulders. I assure you there's no way I could do that now even if those women were the same size they were then, which they aren't. I hope my wife doesn't see this...she was a skinny little thing riding piggyback, but not as teensy as the one on my shoulders. I don't think the two Jeannes (the ones sitting on my hips and supported by my arms) have gained an ounce since then, though. But that was still well over 400 lbs. of woman-flesh I carried all over the yard that day.
I can't say it wasn't fun.
I'll see if I can find and scan it and post it here, although we all might want to take this reminder to heart...from Bruce Springsteen:
I had a friend was a big baseball player
Back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside sat down had a few drinks
But all he kept talking about wasChorus:
Glory days well they'll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl's eye
Glory days, glory daysWell there's a girl that lives up the block
Back in school she could turn all the boy's heads
Sometimes on a friday i'll stop by
And have a few drinks after she put her kids to bed
Her and her husband bobby well they split up
I guess it's two years gone by now
We just sit around talking about the old times,
She says when she feels like crying
She starts laughing thinking aboutChorus
My old man worked 20 years on the line
And they let him go
Now everywhere he goes out looking for work
They just tell him that he's too old
I was 9 nine years old and he was working at the
Metuchen ford plant assembly line
Now he just sits on a stool down at the legion hall
But i can tell what's on his mindGlory days yeah goin back
Glory days aw he ain't never had
Glory days, glory daysNow i think i'm going down to the well tonight
And i'm going to drink till i get my fill
And i hope when i get old i don't sit around thinking about it
But i probably will
Yeah, just sitting back trying to recapture
A little of the glory of, well time slips away
And leaves you with nothing mister but
Boring stories of glory daysChorus

I was tempted to ask the same as DE, and I like the answer ;-)
And, I've had some good news too.My bottom BP reading is now down to 92!!!!!!
and my last set of blood tests have NOT elicited a call from the GP, mening my blood-sugar is prolly alright now, as well!!!
If I keep it all up, and am sensible re the demon booze and food, bother Easter feasts, I should stay out of the 'Diabetes type 2' range of measures.
Regular walks, where you are perspiring by the time you're turning into the front gate, is all it takes.
Good luck, maaaate, and keep it UP! ;-).
