I'm done with the main section of the Jazz! Now to deal with those pain in the ass collections.I may just be lazy and leave them the way they are now...just the titles of the collections, not the load of info I should type in for single LPs.
"The Smithsonian Jazz Collection" is easy...I won't even bother typing anything about it. But single LPs like: "Basses Loaded" with three bass players' works is a royal pain in the ass (except I copped out and put that reocrd with other Milt Hinton LPs).
I still need to change the info with additions and culls, but that'll be simple. Just bring the box of culls beside the computer, highlight the row and delete that row...voila, numbers are sequenced properly and on I go.
For anyone that would like to help me make sure my spread sheet is never lost, if you're interested in largesse, I'll send you the spread sheet.
I only have 2300 or so titles. I've been lying and saying that there are 2500 LPs in my Jazz collection...it's a whole hell of a lot more than that!
There's a whole lotta crap I culled...anyone want Crown and Galaxy sh**? I know I'll never get to hear the music that was ripped off from early 78's of Count Basie (for instance), but I know that with about 20 Basie LPs, I'll never listen to those horrid reissues.
But I'm thinking of digging up the graves of the people who owned Crown and scattering their bones to the winds!

If I had more money I'd soon be broke...but I'd have more LPs!

Later Gator,
Crank up your talking machine, grab a jar of your favorite "kick-back", sit down, relax, and let the good times roll.Eagles may soar, but weasels do not get sucked into jet engines.
I'm always interested in the S of others *grin*. Seriously, do send along your spreadsheet as I:a) Would like to see if there's any way I can see towards helping you enter data in a more automated fashion and
b) I'm a nosy bastard about your collection ;-)My address is elbowgeek(at)gmail.com
is make Word accept all the info! I had to divide the list into 3 parts to keep the program from locking up. Apparently the bits and bytes that rows, cells, and columns use plus the words written within those cells is a huge amount. I wonder how many records I'd have if all of those bytes were LPs?And I lied...as of a few minutes ago, the title count was 2500+. So it turns out I wasn't lying. Now...if I counted actual discs...OY VE!
Sheesh!

So I've learned in my years as an IT guy. Excel can certainly be used in Word in a number of interesting ways. If you do want to send your spreadsheet to me I'll have a fiddle and see what I can do (unless it's so big it won't attach!)
