We've been using one or two of those 12A suckers for a few years, so I am guessing it is the wiring in the yurt. I take it your friend has one of those really fancy yurts?
Follow Ups:
A decent-sized one-room octagonal unit with adobe walls out in the high desert near Santa Fe at 8,000 feet altitude. Cool by day, radiating back solar heat at night. Very eunuch nonconventional construction by the owner, who obviously wasn't up to speed on all the trades. The vacuum, when running, seemed to pick all all kinds of dirt. Then I realized it was an adobe type floor as well. Its a good vacuum but not that good.
I've seen some pretty damned nice yurts that could give high-end condos a run for the money.
The roof is wood with 8 pitches leading to a center point. There's a small auxiillary wood stove, but my friend has seldom needed to fire it up. No tv, only a cell phone. He's pretty content out there. The shower and head facility is not connected, but in a closeby unit. He went out one time last week to take a leak and had this overwhelming feeling of being watched. He looked up at the window and saw this big damn hooty owl staring at him from 3 feet away just outside. When an owl stares you down, you done been stared at.
