In the 50's when the Hammond Electronic Organ was introduced, many Bar/Restauraunts employed organists to play music while patrons dined. This, of course was before somebody go the idea to put a Televison at the bars. Here in Pittsburgh there was a place very near where Muzikmike grew up which had a Hammond B3. Mikeee, do you remember Conley's motel out on Rt. 22? My aprents used to take us there for dinner once in a while.
I suppose this puts me firmly in the old fart category, doesn't it. Damn you EG!

that peons such as my parents never met, but Bob was all right. The lounge was my father's favorite bar...whenever he went to a bar, which is probably close to how often I go, which is rarely!I do remeber sitting beside my father at the bar and feeling like a big-boy! Those days are gone! No children at the bar!
As I write this I seem to remember the organ playing in the background but I hadn't cut my musical teeth at that time...I'm thinking I was around 8 to 10 years old...that would make it '57-'60??? Maybe I was older...I really can't remember other than the hazy memories I just stated.

If I had more money I'd soon be broke...but I'd have more LPs!
It puts those records in perspective and in their context in the American scene.
Thanks for that bit of info. I'm a bit of a student of Americana, and that was one bit which was new to me, which came to light through several records purportedly by the organists themselves. Pretty dire stuff mostly.
