Gordon:You say over 600 hours, so we are all thinking about 600 hours. Of course over 600 hours can be 1,000 hours, which is somewhat closer to the mark. We already feel inferior about being unable to do this quality of work, don't make us feel bad about how long it takes us to make inferior stuff.
Great looking work, and we do not have to listen to know what your products sound like. Now you have some fun.
BTW picked up some Altec (Peerless) 15K:15K linestage trannies to solve my problem.

Hi Jon:Do you have the peerless part number for the 15K:15K trans? I cannot readily think of such a critter from the archives...
curious...
Hi Mike:Yup, they are Altec 15335A's.
Sorry Steve, I picked up the last 2, no more from that source.

found it finally... errenously housed in the 15355 folder.mol is +18 dbm
neat little guy... built on a high nickel square stack of EI's...
relatively low dcr's on both pri and sec windings
flux density of 1884 gauss at 6.15 vrms at 30 hz
curious how you were fimiliar with this part number paul?
> > curious how you were familiar with this part number paul?I went on the 'Bay looking for 4722s, and got interested in the octal plug-in Altec/Peerless line. Some very practical units there, and if the 4722 is any indication, very good sounding.
After our phone talk this morning, I though some more and I think the 15335 can be used balanced to SE after all, though I agree it will show best in SE to SE applications.

I'm wondering if, since it's from Altec, if it wasn't one designed by Ed Reichenbach who had some history with Altec before he started Reichenbach Engineering. Ed's son Tom, who now runs CineMag, has a 15k:15k input trannie in their lineup.
From CineMag's corporate profile page:
CineMag was founded in 1979 in North Hollywood, California. Its mission is to manufacture the very best audio magnetic components in the world. However, its history goes back to 1953 when its founder, Tom Reichenbach, was a youngster and was already making transformers with his father, Ed.Edward Reichenbach's experience in the audio transformer business goes back to Altec Lansing during World War II. Starting there, he designed many transformers which ended up in their equipment. There are some interesting pictures of Ed at Altec Lansing on the Cork Board. After Ed left Altec Lansing he manufactured audio and power transformers and inductors on his own. Eventually, Ed formed Reichenbach Engineering and developed a line of transformers which became ubiquitous standards in the pro audio industry.

Any more where those came from? I'd like to grab a couple to play with when I've some free time.
By the way, if you intend to mount those in the amplifier chassis, be careful. Those high impedance input trannies can pick up quite a lot of noise from the power transformers. Even if they're in MuMetal cans.
