Wow, just received my new drivers from madisound.Man are these things well built! They are Tanks. Anyway, everyone says that these things need a lot of break-in time so I'm thinking that a quick OB will allow me to listen while I do the break in. Any suggestions?
Follow Ups:
just takes some time driver will sound good fresh out of box but will change for the better with time why not enjoy the change keeps one interested.
I have a question... If 'break in' requires the driver to reach Xmas would an open baffle (which usually produces minimal Xmas) be a good way to break the drivers in?
I think you have gotten confused somewhere, prolly just a temporary brainfart :-) OB cabinets will normally have a *higher* Xmax for a given SPL than other cabs. That is, an OB is the opposite to "produces minimal Xmas".This is the reason that getting substantial bass from an OB system requires masses of large diameter woofers.
Santa is good at breaking in, and they'll certainly reach Xmas.
