Motor run caps are intended for use at line frequency only. Now I have gotten away with using new polypropylene in oil motor run caps in crossovers and feel they are adequate. But if you are using vintage ones (motor run caps) I dunno. The vit.Q types should be fine though. Maybe not as clean as modern film caps and on the lush side.
I'd be inclined to go with the first cap as a warm type (to mate with woofer) but that is one big vitQ! Make that CD bypass cap something like russian teflons.

yeah man-- 2 4.0uF vitamin q's, and one 1.0 per side-- all the wire to connect them all is no doubt contributing to the problems.. you aughta see the mondo 15uF vitamin q's i have from a previous experiment-- like a can of olive oil! too bad i have not potential use.. but mebbe a power supply..i love the vitamin q.. but they seem to be best on tweeters, or f'rinstance, a cd compensation network.. or inside an amp.
for now.. i'm just sittin back and listening!

I surely agree..Got a pair of .1uf Vitamin Q 200v you would like to trade for another Vitamon Q value..? I am need of a pair in that value for a preamp build. I have .033/.01uf & some others.
aw man, jan!i wish i did have more .1uF... y'know, all my values are from about .22uF up to 15uF, with the primary bulk being between .22 and 1uF. i have a couple of little little guys too, so sadly, i can't help you! but if you need anything outside signal caps, be glad to talk to you!
